Information for the Graduating Class of Spring & Summer 2009

Broken Arrow Ceremony

The Broken Arrow ceremony will take place on Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center, 6836 S. Mingo Tulsa, Oklahoma. The order of Colleges is as follows:

  • College of Business and Technology
  • College of Education
  • College of Liberal Arts
  • College of Science and Health Professions

Tahlequah Ceremony Times

Commencement will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009, in three ceremonies at Jack Dobbins Field House due to forecasts of inclement weather.

The order of Colleges is as follows:

  • 10 a.m.: College of Education, College of Optometry
  • 12:30 p.m.: College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Health Professions
  • 2:30 p.m.: College of Business and Technology

Notice: We will be using TICKETS for entry into Jack Dobbins Field House. Each graduate will need to pick up his/her tickets in the University Center Lobby at the times listed below. Please note the following:

  1. The graduate must pick up his/her tickets and bring a picture id (university id or driver’s license).
  2. Each graduate will receive tickets for entry into the field house based on the number of graduates attending each ceremony compared to the maximum occupancy. Children over the age of two must have a ticket and those two or under may sit on someone’s lap.
  3. You cannot pick up another graduate's tickets.
  4. All other family/friends can attend and watch the event on the big screen in the NET Auditorium.

Ceremony 1: Education and Optometry will pick up tickets - five (5) per graduate - from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Please be in the North Gym for line up by 9:30 a.m.
Ceremony 2: Liberal Arts and Science& Health Professions will pick up tickets - four (4) tickets per graduate - from 11 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Please be in the North Gym for line up by 12 p.m.
Ceremony 3: Business and Technology will pick up tickets - nine (9) tickets per graduate - from 1 p.m. to 1:45p.m. Please be in the North Gym for line up by 2 p.m.

Graduates must attend the ceremony for the college that awards his/her degree.

Before Commencement Checklist

  1. Apply for Commecement by October 1 for Spring; March 1 for Summer; May 1 for Fall.

    · Application for Bachelor's Degree (pdf)

  2. Resolve any outstanding financial obligations to the University, such as library fines, parking tickets, or other holds. You will not receive your diploma if you have outstanding holds. Questions regarding a hold should be directed to the office that instated the hold.

  3. Grades for correspondence, incompletes, and transcripts of work completed at other schools must be in the Office of Admissions and Records for your name to remain on the roster of graduating students.

    · Spring 2009 Graduates - by May 29, 2009.
    · Summer 2009 Graduates - by August 14, 2009.

  4. Obtain your cap and gown from the University Bookstore.

    The purchase price of graduation apparel for the undergraduate candidate is $25.07 and master’s candidate is $26.16. The graduation apparel is yours to keep. The purchase price for undergraduate honor cords is $16.35 for those graduating Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude. Master’s honor cords are $21.80.

  5. Obtain Graduate Announcements from the University Bookstore.

Diplomas

Your diploma will be mailed to the address you put on your application. Make sure that the degree auditor has your correct address.

Spring 2009 Graduates - As soon as your final grades for the spring semester are recorded, your eligibility for graduation will be checked. If you meet all requirements and your account with the university is clear, your diploma will be mailed to you in mid-August to the address you gave when you applied for graduation.

Summer 2009 Graduates - As soon as your final grades for the summer semester are recorded, your eligibility for graduation will be checked. If you meet all requirements and your account with the university is clear, your diploma will be mailed to you in mid-October to the address you gave when you applied for graduation

Duplicate diplomas cost $20 for bachelors or masters and $40 for optometry. Processing time is approximately two weeks.
