Each department will conduct a self-study during the 2000 academic year. These self-studies shall contain the following elements. The department self-studies will be submitted to Dr. Dunn Faires, Chairman of the NCA Self-Study Steering Committee by November 10, 2000.

Part I: Overview (Current)

  • Mission statement
  • Goals and objectives
  • Faculty
  • Programs (majors, options, certificate programs, graduate programs)
  • General education components, if any, with objectives
  • Other Disciplines not formally a part of other degree programs
  • Services, distance education, off-campus, state associations, etc.
  • Course descriptions and course syllabi
  • Activities, clubs, organizations, regularly offered forums, openings, musicals, etc.
  • Facilities (evaluation of adequacy)

Part II: Statistics 1991 - 2000 (a ten-year profile)
  • Graduates, by program
  • Majors (including options) by program
  • Student credit-hour production, by semester
  • Funding (budgets e.g., operating, equipment, resale)

Part III: A Decade of Change (tracing changes since 1992)
  • Administrative organization (colleges, departments, or units)
  • Mission, goals, objectives
  • Degree options added or deleted
  • Faculty or staff positions added or deleted [FTE changes]
  • Courses added or deleted
  • Impact of technology
  • Plans for Student outcomes assessment, by program and annual reports
  • Funding (internal, external)
  • Facility changes

Part IV: Action Plan for Improvement (Future)

  • Goals that your unit has plans to accomplish
  • Objectives and outcomes which will be used to determine if goals are being met.
  • Identify the resources needed to accomplish these goals.
  • Plans for evaluating the effectiveness of changes made to ensure satisfactory student service needs are met across the campus community.

 

University Support
Department - Unit Self-Studies

Each university support department or unit will conduct a self-study during the 2000 academic year. These self-studies shall contain the following elements. The university support department - unit self-studies will be submitted to Dr. Dunn Faires, Chairman of the NCA Self-Study Steering Committee by November 10, 2000.
Part I: Overview (Current)

  • Mission Statement
  • Goals and objectives
  • Personnel (full-time, part-time, temporary, seasonal)
  • Services Provided
  • Locations Served (e.g. NSU-M, NSU-Tulsa, and NSU-BA)
  • Job Descriptions
  • Special Projects
  • Opportunities for Community Involvement and Service
  • Facilities (evaluation of adequacy)
  • Tools and Equipment (evaluation of adequacy)
Part II: Statistics 1991-2000 (a ten year profile)
  • Funding (budgets, e.g., operating, equipment, resale)
  • Utilization (those served, frequency, quality)
  • Total Quality Improvement indicators
Part III: A Decade of Change (tracing changes since 1992)

Part IV: Action Plan for Improvement (Future)

  • Goals that your unit has plans to accomplish
  • How will the goals be attained.
  • Identify the resources needed to accomplish these goals.
  • Plans for evaluating the effectiveness of changes made to ensure satisfactory customer service needs are met across the campus community.
