"I went to the Career Services group at NSU in November 2008. I was looking for a career change and felt that it would be beneficial to go to Career Services to get an overhaul of my resume and some help finding contacts for job interviews, as well as do some brushing up on my interviewing skills. The wealth of knowledge that was shared with me about little things that I would have never even imagined was astounding. I had been on the hunt for a job for a couple of months prior to coming to Career Services and had had limited success in getting an interview. After we sat down we took a look at not only my resume, but at how I was going about my job search and what I was saying and doing. I received reassurance that it wasn’t something that was wrong with me, or my qualifications. I received guidance that helped me develop very strong interviewing skills and a resume to be proud of. I was informed of upcoming job fairs hosted by Career Services. I went to one to check it out and see what employers would be there and try to make some contacts. I was amazed at the caliber of the companies attending the job fair. Mrs. Anderson introduced me to recruiters from ConocoPhillips, State Farm Insurance and Cherokee Nation Enterprises! How else could the average Joe get exposure like that? There were several other well known names at these job fairs. I was able to make my way around the room and speak with all of the different representatives of these companies and find out information about what they were looking for and get some insight into what their company was all about. I believe that anyone who does not take advantage of what Career Services has to offer is doing themselves a severe disservice and not allowing themselves the best opportunity to find the career that is right for them."
