The President’s Leadership Class is a unique scholarship/leadership program designed to identify and cultivate outstanding potential in selected freshmen entering NSU. Membership in the PLC allows students to develop close associations with University administrators and meet scholars and dignitaries who frequently visit campus. Students chosen for the PLC also have the opportunity to take advantage of some of the most talented faculty members at NSU who teach special sections of selected required courses.
Students with proven leadership skills and strong academic records compete for scholarship assistance of $4,500 per academic year, which includes a tuition waiver and a stipend. The PLC Scholarship is renewable for four years if members maintain high academic standards while exercising practical leadership in University activities.
Applicants for the PLC should display outstanding leadership capability and potential and should have a strong academic record. Last year’s high school seniors who were invited to enter the President’s Leadership Class had a mode composite ACT score of 27. The minimum ACT composite score is 20 and the minimum high school grade-point average is 3.0. Academic expectations are high.
PLC applications are carefully reviewed by a committee of NSU faculty and staff, which selects a group of individuals who are invited to campus for a personal PLC interview. After the personal interview process has been completed, individuals selected for the President’s Leadership Class are notified in April.
