International Faculty Development
"I tell presidents, if they have any money at all for internationalization, faculty development is the place to put it."
-Madeleine F. Green
Vice President for International Initiatives
American Council on Education
The International Faculty Development Fellowship Program, funded by the Office of the Northeastern State University President and managed by the Office of International Programs, is designed to assist NSU in creating a more global and diverse campus by instituting a program of international theme-based seminars for NSU faculty.
The fellowship program will serve to enlarge the cohort of faculty engaged in international dialogue:
- · to further internationalize the NSU curricula,
- · to increase the international awareness and interest of undergraduate students through exposure to faculty with overseas knowledge and experience,
- · to further promote reciprocal student exchange programs currently under development at NSU,
- · to increase the awareness of diversity issues on campus,
- · to expose faculty to international research efforts and grant opportunities,
- · to re-examine and view one's discipline within an international context,
- · to expose faculty members to scholarly communities abroad,
- · to increase global subject area knowledge,
- · to enable faculty to become familiar with best-practice approaches to internationalization at cognate colleges and universities, and
- · to increase the NSU profile both regionally and internationally.
